THEY may just have been the most polite and considerate armed robbers around - a trio of teenage boys who offered an elderly couple lollies and checked to see the rope used to tie them up wasn't too tight during a home invasion.
Shirley and Andrew Waterworth were at their home in Casino, in the northern NSW, when the boys allegedly forced their way inside. Then began the comic routine.
"One of them asked me if I had any rope. I said 'What do you want rope for' and he said 'to tie you up'," Mrs Waterworth, 68 said.
When she told him she suffered arthritis and the rope was hurting her, Mrs Waterworth said the teenager stopped immediately.
When one robber found lollies he offered them around.
