Machico prepares sale of assets

The city of Machico is exploring the sale of municipal assets. A final decision has not yet been taken and everything will depend on the evolution of the crisis, but it is a situation that is under study by the local authority led by Emanuel Gomes.
The Mayor of Machico says that among the assets at stake are the land recently purchased by the city council by the bay machiquense on the slopes of Peak Torch.
The land, notes Emanuel Gomes, since they are all duly registered under the name of the Municipality of Machico. 
"It is an asset that the Board has and that if more financial distress following the current economic climate, you can use to dispose of and deal with any financial difficulties," he explains.
The Mayor of Machico says if this tightening arise, the local authority will not put aside the possibility of selling the land, "provided, of course, the projects comply with the order to execute that vision for the Town Council that space: tourism purposes and, at best, a mixed housing and tourism. "
A couple of those lands, the Board has other assets that admits to sell, as is the case of some buildings. On the list are, for example, older elementary schools of the first round, but closed, as the Maroços (in Machico), the Caniçal and Santo da Serra.
At another level, the mayor stated that the Municipal Master Plan will have a special care in building around nature reserves in the São Lourenço and Funduras, which will be banned.
The Mayor of Machico stresses the need to consolidate the green areas of the county, repeating a story already advanced by JM and intended to create a kind of "green belt" above which will not be allowed any construction. This measure already part of the modifications of the current Municipal Master Plan.
