McDonald's is recalling 12 million Shrek-themed cups.

The discovery of cadmium in the cups paint  dedicated to the movie 'Shrek 3D Forever After' led to fast-food chain McDonald's to withdraw 12 million units of its restaurants in the U.S.. The product that has substance capable of affecting bone and kidney.

The Committee on Safety of Consumer Products U.S. announced the withdrawal of the cups this Friday and warned consumers to stop using those that have already been sold, since there is risk of contamination.

For its part, McDonald's has promised to leave instructions on the official website for the repayment of money to those who bought the glasses - which has already happened to seven of the 12 million covered by the collection - which represent the image of the animated characters Shrek, ' Fiona ',' ' and 'Donkey'.

The glasses were being sold in restaurants in the chain of 'fast food' in the U.S. for two dollars (about 1.67 euros).
